Mountains to Molehills

Sometimes life looks like Mt. Everest. (If any of you have climbed that mountain, I’m sorry…I’m sure I’m exaggerating a bit much.)

Last week I dropped the kiddos off with the fantastic lady who watches them (hello Miss Alisha!). Not only does she help keep my life in order and love my kiddos in an enormous way, but she also gives some encouraging morning goodness!  Last week she was telling me about her quiet time that morning and it was full of all the good things. In a nutshell she told me it said this…don’t look at the mountain in this distance. God can turn mountains into hills and slopes.

A very quick reminder that God is able!

What are the mountains in your life?

(Of course I did not take this picture…just borrowing it from the interweb!)

What adversity are you facing? What dream do you desire to start running toward? What sickness do you think you can’t beat? Addiction? Trials? People you can’t handle? Love you aren’t being given? Love you don’t think you can give?

When these mountains are out in front of us they seem impossible to climb. We don’t want to even make an attempt because we might fail…but God can turn these mountains into molehills!

I’ve been asked the question before, “What is something you would do if you knew you couldn’t fail? What dream would you run after?  What fear would you throw out?

This reminds me of the story of Gideon (Judges 6-8 if you want to check it out). There’s a part of the story when God says, “You have too large an army with you. I can’t turn Midian over to them like this-they’ll take all the credit, saying, ‘I did it myself'” (Judges 7:2). In Judges 7:3 it says 22,000 of the people returned and 10,000 remained. As in those who were to fight the Midianites went from 22,000 to 10,000…but then it goes on in Judges 7 that there are still too many and God cuts it down once again to 300 men…and then goes on to defeat the Midians! With 300 men! God made their mountain a molehill!

Whatever mountain you may be facing…think about it. Before you try to avoid it, consider the fact that maybe God wants you to run toward the mountain so that he may receive the glory for every ounce of your climb!

  1. Completely agree with you 🙂 I often think of that too. If we didn’t have fear what would we be able to accomplish?

If you are looking for free pictures to use on your blog posts here are some sites that are free to use and you don’t want to worry about permission or giving credit.
